Judy Zhu is an Associate in HopgoodGanim Lawyer’s Intellectual Property, Technology and Cyber Security practice.

She enjoys a broad practice in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and technology law, having advised both individual and corporate clients ranging from start-ups to multinational companies. She has particular expertise in advising on copyright protection; trade mark prosecution; domain name registration; IP licensing; and IT contracts.

Further, she has significant experience acting in disputes involving copyright, trade mark or patent infringement; domain names; misuse of confidential information; misleading or deceptive conduct; passing off; defamation; and general contractual disputes. 

Judy has also worked in the not-for-profit sector and offers experience in establishing and governing incorporated associations and advising on regulatory and statutory compliance issues relevant to such entities. With a music and museums background, and having worked for various arts organisations, Judy has a deep understanding of the legal, practical and governance issues facing clients in the arts, culture and creative sector.

Judy holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and has a Master of Museum Studies. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ).

Judy was most recently recognised in the Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property & TMT Law – Queensland, 2022.
