Road Infrastructure

  • Springfield Road Link: Advising the developer of Springfield township in the construction and delivery, on behalf of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, of the Springfield road linking the township to the Western Freeway.
  • Paddington Gold Road Underpass: Advising on the Paddington Gold EPC contract for the design and construction of a road underpass under a railway line in WA.
  • Northern Access Road Project: Advising on the drafting of the D&C contract for the Brisbane Airport Corporation for use in the tendering process for the construction of the $220 million Northern Access Road Project, including negotiation of the final contract with the successful tenderer.

Rail Infrastructure

  • Brisbane Airport Rail Link: Advising on infrastructure and related legal aspects for the Brisbane Airport Rail Link.
  • Adelaide to Darwin Railway: Acting for the Australasia Railway Corporation, a corporation owned by the NT and SA governments, in letting the concession for the development of the 1320km Adelaide to Darwin Railway.
  • Moura Link-Aldoga Railway Project: Advising Queensland Rail on planning options to protect a future rail corridor, related to the Moura Link-Aldoga Railway Project in Northern Gladstone, that may have been impacted by the development of a dam.
  • Beenleigh Railway Station Redevelopment: Acting for Queensland Rail and the Gold Coast City Council in the Beenleigh Railway Station redevelopment project.
  • Brisbane Light Rail Project: Advising Multiplex in its proposal to the Queensland Government for a light rail project in inner-city Brisbane.

Port Infrastructure

  • Port of Townsville: Advising BHP Billiton on all aspects of the development and early operation of the Port of Townsville port facility, including tenure and land acquisition, contracting, haulage, construction, power, establishing a rail head and rail haulage agreement, and developing a new offshore wharf.
  • Wiggins Island Coal Terminal: Advising Bandanna Energy and Northern Energy Corporation on all aspects of their participation in stage 1, and potential participation in further stages, of Queensland’s new coal export terminal at Wiggins Island at Gladstone.
  • Abbott Point Coal Terminal: Advising Carabella Resources on its consortium involvement with North Queensland Coal Terminal for tonnage capacity at Abbott Point together with an integrated rail solution.

Energy, Mining and Resources Infrastructure

  • Bulwer Island Refinery Flare Infrastructure Project: Advising BP Bulwer Island on the Bulwer Island Refinery Flare Infrastructure Project - new flare risers, including advising on the EPCM Contract with Worley Parsons, the EPC Contract with Downer Engineering, and various supply agreements (eg water).
  • Colton Coal Mine Project: Advising Northern Energy Corporation on the Colton Coal Mine Project, including advising on the ECI tender process, negotiation and drafting of the EPCM Contract for delivery of CHPP, TLO and related infrastructure, and negotiation and drafting of various other supply and construction agreements.
  • Braemar II: Advising on the acquisition, development and operation of the Braemar II CSG-fired power station.
  • Gas Projects: Advising a major CSG industry participant on projects such as the Kogan North Daandine, Tipton West and Moranbah Gas Projects.
  • Ministry of Water and Electricity, Saudi Arabia: Advising the Ministry of Water and Electricity on its PPP and privatisation plan for the water and waste water industry in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Condong/Broadwater Co-generation Power Station: Advising Clyde Babcock-Hitachi on EPC construction head contract and sub-contracts and back-end dispute resolution for Condong/Broadwater co-generation power station.
  • Foxleigh Mine: Advising on EPC contracting and management for the development of Coal Handling and Processing Plant and related roads and rail loading facilities and agreements for access to road, loading, rail and port capacity for Foxleigh Mine.
  • Blackwater CSG Power Station: Advising Bow Energy on EPC contracting and management for the Blackwater CSG Power Station.
  • BHP Power Station: Advising BHP on its proposed investment in the development and financing of an integrated 600MW combined cycle, gas fire power station, and UREA facility, established in Vietnam - Phu My Three.
  • Burnett River Dam: Advising a consortium member concerning its involvement in the $350 million Burnett River Dam Project (now Paradise Dam).
  • Connors River Dam and Pipeline Capacity: Advising Carabella Resources on water capacity solutions associated with SunWater’s Connor Rivers Dam and Pipeline project.
  • Moranbah Gas JV: Advising on the acquisition, sale, and ongoing operational and development advice for the Moranbah to Townsville gas pipeline.
  • Roma to Brisbane Gas Pipeline: Advising IOL Petroleum on the development of the Roma to Brisbane gas pipeline.
  • Stanwell Corporation: Acting since 1996 in the procurement of coal for the Stanwell power station, including drafting and negotiating coal purchase agreements, assisting with tender processes, and advising on the administration and operation of agreements. The entire supply of coal to Stanwell power station is on the basis of contracts in which HopgoodGanim has acted for Stanwell Corporation.
  • Steel Mill Plant, Saudi Arabia: Advising Rahji Steel on their EPC contract for the construction of a 140 million Euro combined bar and rod steel mill plant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Communications Infrastructure

  • Fixed-line telephone network - Indonesia: Advising Canadian Imperial Commercial Bank, Chemical Bank, Credit Lyonnais and The Sanwa Bank Limited in relation to the US$600 million non-recourse debt financing of a 500,000 fixed-line telephone network in West Java, Indonesia.
  • Telecommunications Regulatory Authority – Abu Dhabi: Advising on the negotiation and drafting of turnkey construction contracts for the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s offices in Abu Dhabi.
  • Brisbane to Cairns Fibre Optic Cable Project: Advising NextGen Networks/Visionstream in relation to the deployment of a fibre optic cable between Brisbane and Cairns.
  • Brisbane to Perth Fibre Optic Cable Project: Advising NextGen Networks/Visionstream in relation to deployment of the fibre optic cable between Brisbane and Perth.
  • Regional Backbone Black Spots Fibre Optic Cable Roll Out: Acting for Visionstream in relation to native title, cultural heritage, environmental and planning issues with respect to the Commonwealth government’s Regional Backbone Black Spots fibre optic cable roll out in South Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.

Infrastructure Investment funds

  • Industrial City of Abu Dhabi PPPs: Advising Macquarie Bank on the establishment, with the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, of ZonesCorp, a company whose purpose is to facilitate the first PPP infrastructure projects in the Middle East to develop the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), and the establishment and management of its newly created infrastructure investment fund.

Property Resumptions associated with Infrastructure Developments

We have a successful track record advising on the resumption of land as a result of significant infrastructure projects across South East Queensland, including:

  • the North-South Bypass Tunnel; 
  • the Inner City Bypass;
  • the Airport Rail Link project;
