Environment law is increasingly important and dynamic, and has the potential to impact development in a wide range of sectors.

Ranked as a leading team for Environment in Chambers Asia Pacific 2011-2015, 2017 and 2018 we advise on all levels of regulation, from Commonwealth to State and local government.

Our experience includes advising on the full spectrum of environmental issues that arise throughout a development or project, from approval requirements for environmentally relevant activities and environmental constraints advice, through to defending environmental prosecutions. Our legal experts are regularly called on to undertake environmental due diligence for small and large property development, resources and infrastructure projects, and have extensive experience advising on the early identification of environmental issues.

As HopgoodGanim advises more than 30 percent of Queensland’s ASX-listed mining and resources companies, we have particular expertise advising participants in these sectors on matters such as the environmental impact assessment process, project due diligence, and approvals under environmental legislation for mining and resources projects.

We have a longstanding relationship with the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), and our team holds senior positions on various UDIA committees in Queensland, where they are responsible for the preparation of policy papers for, and submissions on, key pieces of legislative reform and policy in the environmental arena, including koala conservation, the State Coastal Management Plan (Qld), and planning reform, which has shaped a number of pieces of environmental legislation and policy.

HopgoodGanim was recognised in Doyle’s Guide to Leading Environment Law Firms - Queensland, 2012, 2014 and 2015, and was ranked as a Second Tier law firm in 2017 and 2018.
