HG Alert: June 2010 Quarter CPI Figures Released - 28 Jul 2010

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has today released the Consumer Price Index figures for the June 2010 quarter.

The All Groups Index number for Brisbane is 177.3, an increase of 0.74 percent (or 1.3 index points) over the March 2010 quarter figure, which was 176. The June 2009 quarter number was 171.8, so the new figures represent an increase of 3.2 percent (or 5.5 index points) over the corresponding quarter for the previous year.

When comparing CPI increases in the capital cities, the percentage change (from the corresponding quarter in 2009) for Brisbane is less than Hobart and Darwin, but greater than the other capital cities.

A detailed breakdown of CPI figures is available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics' website.

Landlords may wish to check their leases to see whether a CPI review is due this quarter, and if so, apply the correct index number for that review. This CPI edition is likely to apply to leases which are up for review in July, August and September.
