Meryl advises public and private sector clients, CBD office tower owners, commercial property owners, shopping centre owners and national retailers on general property matters and in particular leasing transactions throughout Australia. With more than 30 years’ experience, Meryl specialises in drafting and negotiating all types of lease documentation.

Meryl's experience also extends to the acquisition and sale of commercial and retail premises including negotiating and drafting contracts, conducting due diligence enquiries and managing all related aspects of the conveyance. Prominent public and private sector clients for who Meryl has acted include Queensland’s Office of the Coordinator-General, Stockland and CorVal, Leda Holdings, BP Australia, Arrow Energy and Queensland Rail.

Meryl was recently named in Doyle's Guide to the Legal Profession, in Leading Leasing Lawyers, Queensland - 2017 and 2018

Areas of Practice

  • Advising Brisbane Markets on all aspects of leasing at the Brisbane Markets at Rocklea since the site was acquired from a State Government entity in 2002, including all leasing due diligence during the acquisition process, establishing and maintaining pro forma documentation.  During that time frame Meryl has managed three rollovers each in excess of 150 leases
  • Advising Leda Holdings since 2004 on the leasing for a number of shopping centres, including Morayfield and Morayfield Village.
  • Negotiating leases and ancillary documents for the owners of Waterfront Place, a 40 storey CBD office tower in Brisbane.
  • Advising CorVal on the negotiation of their property management agreements for 160 Ann Street Brisbane, 140 Arthur Street Sydney, 9 Hunter Street Sydney and 45 Pirie Street Adelaide.
  • Acting for BP Australia in securing leases and licenses for service station sites throughout Queensland, advising on the leasing of BP travel centres in Queensland and northern New South Wales and negotiating with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Logan Motorway Company to secure a roadside service centre agreement for a new roadside service centre to be constructed by BP in 2015. 
  • Advising Tackelly No 3, part of the Kyko group of companies, on the acquisition and ongoing leasing of the commercial building at 193 North Quay, Brisbane.
  • Office of the Coordinator-General – advising on the drafting and negotiation of contractual arrangements for the sale of freehold land, the preparation and negotiation of leases and the provision of advice concerning the terms of existing leases, relating to 458 properties in the Mary Valley comprising the properties acquired by the previous government for the Traveston Dam.
