Daniel is the head of our Banking and Finance division and has extensive experience advising on complex property, project and structured finance transactions. He advises a number of Australian and foreign banks, as well as clients across various industry sectors including resources and energy and residential and commercial property development.

Daniel has a special interest in funding arrangements for the hospitality sector and has advised on financing for major hotel and resort developments in the South East Queensland region. His expertise also extends to providing specialised tailored advice to clients of all industries to minimise risk and register assets using the PPS Register in order to protect their  interests in the context of  the Personal Property Securities Act 2009.

Areas of Practice

  • Advising FKP Group on facility and security documents, as well as related tripartite and intercreditor arrangements, for the refinance of, and syndication of, a $150 million multi-tranche facility.
  • Advising on construction funding for the French Quarter and Town Centre precincts within the Emerald lakes development located on the Gold Coast.
  • Advising St.George Bank on numerous cross-collateralised facilities involving a Brisbane property group comprising 26 companies and 25 trusts. The most recent development for this group is the construction of the Officeworks complex located at Gympie Road, Aspley.
  • Advising the Norton Gold Fields Group on, and negotiating with numerous international counterparties and financiers (including Lehman Bros and Merrill Lynch) on the terms of, documentation for the issue of promissory and convertible notes and the entering into of (and subsequently the closing out of) hedge arrangements and related security documentation in connection with liabilities exceeding $100 million. 
  • Acting for Westpac Banking Corporation for the preparation and negotiation of finance, security, tripartite and intercreditor documentation, and the undertaking of due diligence, in connection with a joint venture established for the construction and operation of a mining accommodation facility.   
  • Acting for and advising Westpac Banking Corporation in connection with finance provided for the acquisition and operation of the Rocky Point Power Station.   
  • Advising Capital Finance Australia Limited in connection with the acquisition of, and funding for, the Sheraton Hotel, Country Club and adjacent Bale Resorts development at Port Douglas.
