Alison specialises in complex property matters and other financial matters arising from relationship breakdowns. She has worked exclusively in family law since 1996 and has extensive experience in both matrimonial and de facto relationship law.

Alison’s expertise includes advising on international family law matters, such as international financial matters and international issues relating to children, including relocation and child abduction.

An Accredited Family Law Specialist, Alison is the Chair of the Queensland Law Society’s Family Law Committee. She is also a member of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association, the Law Council of Australia’s Family Law Section, the Child Protection Practitioners’ Association of Queensland, and Queensland Collaborative Law.

Alison was ranked a Leading lawyer in Doyles Guide to Leading Family & Divorce Lawyers – Brisbane in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and a Leading Family Lawyers (High-Value & Complex Property Matters) – Queensland, 2018. Alison was also listed as a leading Family Law practitioner in the Best Lawyers: Australia 2018 by the Australian Financial Review.

  • Advising on a complex property settlement which involved a large property investment firm involving over 50 corporate and trust entities.
  • Advising on a complex property settlement involving assets worth in excess of $100 million, including advising as to the interests of various third party beneficiaries in trusts.
  • Advising a third party in a property settlement dispute in relation to their interests in a trust structure valued at over $70 million.
  • Advising a client in a complex parenting dispute where a child had been bought to Australia from Vanuatu.
  • Advising a client on their proposed relocation with their child to an overseas jurisdiction.
  • Advising high net wealth individuals on family law issues relevant to corporate structuring.
  • Advising clients on pre-nuptial and relationship agreements.
  • Advising clients on their property settlement involving assets and entities overseas.
