Elizabeth Harvey Elizabeth assists with all various aspects of energy and resources law.

Elizabeth advises on various aspects of energy and resources law, including matters that involve native title, cultural heritage and land access.  She provides advice to clients on a range of matters related to energy and resources and native title and cultural heritage, including mining, oil and gas transactions and land access arrangements.

Elizabeth also has prior experience practicing in insurance law, including acting for employers in WorkCover matters, advising on liability and indemnity,  and assisting with the administration of personal injury and public liability claims, including those involving CTP policies.

Recently, Elizabeth was named one of only eight rising stars of Native Title law in Australia by Doyle’s Guide to the Legal Profession, 2017.

She holds qualifications in Laws (with Honours) and Arts from the University of Queensland.

Areas of Practice

  • Advising on approvals and obligations under resources legislation, in Queensland and other jurisdictions.
  • Advising on environmental obligations associated with resources projects, including the provision of financial assurance and running appeals against financial assurance decisions in the Land Court.
  • Advising parties of their contractual obligations, including under joint venture agreements.
  • Undertaking due diligence and native title tenure assessment for a variety of projects throughout Australia.
  • Advising both mining companies and indigenous parties on the expedited procedure, including appearing at status conferences in the National Native Title Tribunal.
  • Acting for both resources companies and Aboriginal parties in drafting native title and cultural heritage agreements.
  • Acting for resources and pastoral respondents to native title claims.
