Senior patent attorney joins HopgoodGanim Lawyers

HopgoodGanim Lawyers welcomes their second patent attorney to the growing patent services team.

Justin Sweetman joins the firm as a senior patent attorney.

Justin brings a wealth of knowledge to the Patents and Intellectual Property team with over 14 years of experience as an Australian and New Zealand patent and trade mark attorney.

Prior to becoming a patent attorney Justin gained extensive Life Science sector experience, including Agtech, working at the University of Cambridge as a Research Assistant, at Syngenta in the UK as a post-doctoral researcher plus additional roles in Belgium and New Zealand.

Justin specialises in the drafting and prosecution of patent specifications in Australia and New Zealand and other major overseas jurisdictions. He also provides advice to clients on freedom to operate, infringement and validity, and is experienced in prior art searching and the preparation and prosecution of registered design applications and Plant Breeders Rights.

Justin has a PhD in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Leicester, a Master’s degree in Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship (1st Class) from the University of Auckland, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester.

Intellectual Property Partner and partner of the year finalist Hayden Delaney is especially excited at the Life Science experience that Justin bring to the team.
