HopgoodGanim takes top gong in guide to leading family law firms

12 March 2012

HopgoodGanim has been recognised as the top Queensland family law firm in the Doyle's Guide Queensland Family Law Review for 2012.

HopgoodGanim beat out its competitors to be the only firm ranked in the first tier of leading family law firms in the Review.

Partner Geoff Wilson has been named the market leader in the list of leading family lawyers, with partner Freda Wigan and special counsel Alison Ross both listed as recommended lawyers.

According to Mr Wilson, HopgoodGanim's 15-strong family law team is one of the largest in Australia, and is home to a number of Queensland Law Society Accredited Family Law Specialists.

"One of the advantages of housing a family law practice within a large commercial law firm is that we can provide expert business, property, tax and restructuring advice as part of matrimonial cases", he says.

"HopgoodGanim is known for advising on national and international matrimonial matters with settlements in the many millions of dollars, while still treating our clients with the integrity, sensitivity and discretion needed in such personal and emotionally-charged circumstances."

Mr Wilson is recognised internationally for his expertise in binding financial agreements and the enforcement of international pre-nuptial agreements within the Australian legal system. He authored the Australian chapter of 2011 legal guidebook International Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements, published by Jordans in London, and is currently the parliamentarian of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Ms Wigan is the President of Queensland Collaborative Law and is often invited to participate in national meetings and events related to this emerging area. She was also selected as a finalist for the Queensland Woman Lawyer of the Year Award in 2009.

Ms Ross is currently the Chair of the Queensland Law Society's Family Law Committee and has extensive experience in both matrimonial and de facto relationship law, including advising on international financial matters and issues relating to children.

All research for Doyle's Guide is compiled on an independent basis through interviews with clients, peers and relevant industry bodies. The full Queensland Family Law Review for 2012 is available online.
