HopgoodGanim ranked first for Australian deals in capital markets review

6 February 2012

HopgoodGanim has been ranked first for Australian Equity and Equity-related deals (based on number of deals) in the Thomson Reuters Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) Capital Markets Review for the full year 2011.

In the review, which forms part of the Thomson Reuters Full Year 2011 Global Capital Markets Legal Advisor League Table Review, the firm was ranked ahead of international and national firms including Freehills, Clayton Utz, Mallesons, Norton Rose and Allens Arthur Robinson.

According to partner Brian Moller, head of the HopgoodGanim's Capital Markets team, the ranking demonstrates the ongoing strength of the firm's work in this area, despite a general lull in capital raisings in the Australian market.

"We advise more than one-third of all listed companies in the mining and oil and gas sectors that are headquartered in Brisbane, and this ranking has come off the back of the many capital raisings we do for these companies. It shows that we compete head on with national and international firms in this area."

This is not the first time the Queensland law firm has been recognised for its work in capital markets, having been ranked equal second in the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) legal advisor tables in the Thomson Reuters Global Capital Markets Review in August 2011.
