Planning and Development Paper: The New Queensland Coastal Plan - 27 July 2011

The Environmental Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2010, which was enacted on 4 April 2011 but has only partially commenced, effects substantial amendments to the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995.

The policy of the Queensland Coastal Plan is to restrict the development footprint in the coastal zone by limiting development to infill and redevelopment of existing urban areas, and allowing only coastal-dependent development in other areas.

In this paper, presented at the UDIA Qld Coastal Plan briefing in July 2011, partner David Nicholls considers how the Queensland Coastal Plan will affect decision-making at a number of levels across government.
