The new financial year brings with it a range of regulatory changes for employers.  From 1 July 2008, the way in which superannuation contributions are calculated is changing, perhaps significantly for some employers.  If you engage contractors, your payments to them may be subject to payroll tax from 1 July 2008, under changes to Queensland's payroll tax legislation.  The minimum salary level for temporary skilled migrant workers employed under section 457 visas is increasing by 3.8% from 1 August 2008.  Finally, the remuneration threshold that employees, who are not employed under an Award or workplace agreement, have to meet in order to make an application for unfair termination, has been increased.
