With the introduction of the Adoption Bill 2009, there are significant changes proposed to adoption practices in Queensland.

The Adoption and Children Act 1964 will be repealed and replaced with what Minister Keech has said to be ‘contemporary, fair adoption laws’.

The effect of the Bill is to remove the restrictive obstacles to adoption practices in Queensland.
