Damian O'Connor joined HopgoodGanim’s Business Services and Structuring practice in 2007 as Special Counsel.
Damian advises on a wide range of taxation issues including income tax, capital gains tax, GST, payroll tax, stamp duty, the impact of Climate Change legislation on taxation, and other complex tax issues. Damian has extensive taxation and commercial experience in providing practical and commercial solutions to tax issues for a range of clients from individuals and small business owners to large corporations and government departments. Due to his experience working with the ATO, Damian is uniquely placed to deal with revenue authorities, taxation audits, settlement and debt negotiation, taxation prosecutions and taxation objections and appeals.
Damian regularly presents seminars and training courses to clients and professional advisers as well as the QUT legal practice course and to other professional bodies. He is a fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours (2A) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Chinese language from Griffith University.
As taxation matters become increasingly complex, Damian is able to call upon the expertise of other specialist groups within the firm, including our family law, corporate advisory and property law experts, to meet the requirements of his clients.
