Brett Bolton

SPECIAL COUNSEL

Brett is a Special Counsel and joined HopgoodGanim in 1997. He is one of our specialist practitioners who advises HopgoodGanim clients on two areas of practice - competition law and trade practices, and trade marks.

Brett is experienced in both the contentious and non-contentious sides of his speciality areas. His advice to clients includes compliance with and the conduct of defences against alleged breaches to the Trade Practices Act and Fair Trading Act, as well as providing advice in connection with the preparation of submissions to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on trade practices issues. In the area of trade marks, Brett assists clients in the front-end registration of trade marks and in litigious trade mark matters in the unfortunate event of a dispute arising.

As is the way at HopgoodGanim, Brett is aligned with and connects closely to the other HopgoodGanim specialists and advises on intellectual property related issues as part of our Intellectual Property and Technology practice.

Brett is an extremely passionate person with a drive to succeed and part of his approach includes ensuring that he has a clear understanding of his clients’ goals and expectations from the very first meeting.

Brett co-authored the Australian chapter of the third edition of The International Comparative Legal Guide to: Cartels and Leniency 2010, published by Global Legal Group Ltd, London.

A graduate of Queensland University of Technology, Brett holds a Master of Laws.
