Hayden is a specialist lawyer focusing on the information, communications and technology sectors, and commercial, intellectual property and competition law.
Hayden has a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of technology procurement, licensing and commercialisation, including complex services, outsourcing and cloud agreements, GITC, software development agreements (AGILE and waterfall-based models), research commercialisation agreements for the higher education sector, privacy and data protection. Hayden's expertise in intellectual property has seen his involvement in a multitude of commercial and litigious matters, including those involving copyright, trade marks, patents, designs and plant breeders' rights.
Hayden holds qualifications in Laws and Information Technology (with Honours and Distinction respectively) and his experience includes working as a researcher at the Queensland University of Technology, where he co-authored a number of journal articles on intellectual property and new technologies. With practical experience working in software development and telecommunications, Hayden is uniquely placed to advise on the particular legal issues affecting these growing industries.
Hayden was named ACS Queensland's Young ICT Professional of the Year in 2010 and is a member of its Executive Committee for 2012 and 2013. He formerly sat of the Queensland Management Committee for the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand and was also previously a member of their Trans-Tasman Committee.
