Martin leads our Resources and Energy practice and also works very closely with our Construction, Infrastructure and Major Projects practice. He has advised on some of Queensland's most significant mining and public infrastructure projects for both public and private sector organisations, and has actively represented landowners and occupiers in dealings with resources companies.
With more than 20 years' experience, Martin has developed a reputation as one of the most effective and sought after energy and resources lawyers in Queensland. Martin was named as a preeminent lawyer in the latest Doyle's Guide to Queensland's Energy and Resources Lawyers and a leading Australian Energy and Natural Resources lawyer in Chambers Asia Pacific 2012.
Martin also advises clients in the resources and energy sector on the impact of climate change legislation on their businesses. His experience in the coal seam gas sector and emerging geothermal energy sector, along with his specialist knowledge of carbon capture and storage and environmentally-friendly power generation, mean he is well placed to advise on the opportunities and challenges of climate change.
A founding member of the Australian Coal Seam Gas Council, Martin is as much a part of the industry as he is an adviser to its participants. His role with the Council saw him developing legislation, drafting submissions and negotiating with the Queensland Government, giving him the insight to approach legal matters with the 'bigger picture' in mind.
Martin's work ethic positions him as a lawyer that his clients and colleagues know they can always rely upon to deliver successful outcomes.
Martin is a former President of the Australian Mining and Petroleum Law Association (AMPLA), the Resources and Energy Law Association, and Adjunct Professor of Law at Murdoch University in Western Australia.
