James is a Partner of HopgoodGanim's planning and development team. He practices primarily in the areas of planning and development, environmental law, land valuation and the compulsory acquisition of land. James was named as a leading Queensland lawyer in the latest Doyle's Guide to Australia's Leading Planning and Environment Lawyers.
James advises clients in relation to all planning and development issues associated with development projects. This often involves providing advice at an early stage as to the appropriateness of a site (having regard to the client's requirements) and at the development application stage to ensure that an application is structured so as to provide the best prospects of success. James has achieved very positive outcomes for clients by keeping abreast of planning and environment issues as they relate to the development assessment process.
James is on the management committee of the Queensland Environmental Law Association, and is an active participant in the Property Council of Australia (Queensland Division) and the Urban Development Institute of Australia. James was also invited by the Queensland Property Council to participate in its Working Group to formulate a response to the State's review of the valuation system.
