HopgoodGanim launches staff volunteering program

  12-Nov-2009

Independent Queensland law firm HopgoodGanim Lawyers has launched a staff volunteering program for its 200-strong workforce.

Designed to go hand in hand with the financial and legal support the firm provides to local and national charities, the new program entitles every permanent staff member to take one day of paid leave per year to volunteer for an approved charitable organisation.

According to Managing Partner Bruce Humphrys, the new initiative gives the firm’s employees the chance to personally contribute to the great work charities do in the community.

“This initiative grew out of feedback from our last employee survey, in which it was suggested that we give staff the opportunity to volunteer in work time. We believe this program will not only benefit our employees and the charities they volunteer for, but also further the firm’s reputation as an employer of choice.”

The firm currently has volunteer arrangements with two charities - Foodbank Queensland and the Salvation Army. Both of these organisations provide support and assistance for Queenslanders in need.

“The firm has provided financial support to these charities for a number of years, and we’re excited to be able to offer greater support through an official volunteering program,” Mr Humphrys said.
