HopgoodGanim launches new trade mark monitoring service

  05-Aug-2010

HopgoodGanim has added a fixed-fee trade mark monitoring service to its suite of client services.

The service, which will be run by lawyers from the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology practice, is designed to help businesses protect the logos, slogans and catch-phrases they use regularly to promote their products and services.

According to Senior Associate Michael Morris, this service will help businesses monitor the trade mark activities of their competitors and help ensure that the value of their trade marks is enhanced over time and is not diluted.

"This service will ensure that businesses are quickly made aware of any newly registered trade marks that are identical or very similar to their own, so they can take swift action to oppose the registration if required.

"Trade marks are important assets for any business and need to be protected like any other business asset. It's important to keep an eye on newly registered trade marks to make sure the investment that businesses have made into their brand and trading reputation isn't diluted."

"The service is a very cost-effective way of giving organisations peace of mind. It will help them stay aware of potentially conflicting trade marks, whether they are start-up organisations without the internal resources to provide this service on a regular basis, or mature organisations with existing brand management strategies who are looking for an efficient way to 'double check' trade mark activity".
