HopgoodGanim founder retires from partnership

  01-Jul-2011

After an amazing legal career spanning nearly four decades, Paul Hopgood, one of the founders of HopgoodGanim, has announced his retirement from partnership at the firm.

Mr Hopgood moved into a consultant's role for the Family Law practice on 1 July 2011, supporting partners Freda Wigan and Geoff Wilson and their team of 12 solicitors.

Mr Hopgood founded HopgoodGanim in 1974 with Joe Ganim, who is a Consultant in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice.

Paul has practised exclusively in the area of family law since 1976 and is an Accredited Family Law Specialist and Queensland Law Society approved mediator.

Paul is recognised as one of Australia's most prominent family lawyers. His expert knowledge of the law and depth of understanding of the more complex aspects of family law matters sees him regularly invited to deliver papers at legal symposiums and conferences.

In addition to his speaking commitments, Paul is also widely published and authored the book 'Divorce: all you need to know....if you ever have to ask'.

Managing Partner Bruce Humphrys today acknowledged Paul's incredible contribution to the legal industry and Family Law community in Queensland.

"Paul has helped build the firm from just two partners to one that now has 26 partners and 200 staff, and competes with top-tier firms across the country. He has built a strong legacy of business ethics and mateship, and a steadfast commitment to service within the firm," said Mr Humphrys.

Mr Hopgood's last day as a full-time partner of the firm was on 30 June 2011.
