HopgoodGanim advises Norton Gold Fields on $40.5 million share placement

  20-Oct-2009

Leading Brisbane law firm HopgoodGanim Lawyers has advised ASX-listed Norton Gold Fields (NGF) on the successful placement of shares worth A$40.5 million to investors in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

The placement, at 32.83 cents per share, is being conducted in two tranches to international resource funds Sprott Asset Management (Canada), Libra Advisors (USA), Baker Steel (UK) and Goldmax Asia Investments (Hong Kong).

This placement provides significant funding for the Australian gold producer’s growth plans, including the Mount Morgan Mine Project in Queensland, and the capital program at Paddington in Western Australia.

According to HopgoodGanim Partner Michele Muscillo, this significant transaction demonstrates the resilience of equities markets, even though the past year has been difficult for capital raising. “Despite the global financial crisis, our Corporate Advisory practice has remained active and continues to assist our clients with stock exchange listings and capital raising activities.”

“HopgoodGanim has been a legal advisor to Norton Gold Fields for a number of years,” says Mr Muscillo. “The fact that this placement was oversubscribed is a credit to Norton Gold Fields and demonstrates the potential for overseas investor interest in Australian companies.”
