Leading independent law firm HopgoodGanim Lawyers has been named a Gold Employer of Choice in a national survey of law firms by Australasian Legal Business (ALB) magazine.
Managing Partner Bruce Humphrys says he is delighted that HopgoodGanim has been recognised for its continuing focus on its people.
“We’re really proud to be recognised as one of the best law firms to work for in Australia. Even more importantly, this award tells us that our employees and the legal community have positively acknowledged our commitment to providing our people with a great place to work each day.
“We live by the philosophy that happy employees make for a strong and successful workplace.”
According to the survey results, HopgoodGanim dominated the mid-size firm category, outranking many of its larger rivals.
The firm was recognised as a Gold Employer of Choice for performing well across the six survey criteria of compensation and benefits; quality of work and clients; professional development and training; knowledge management and IT; work/life balance; and overall firm reputation.
Mr Humphrys says the firm is well-known in the legal industry for its low daily billable hour requirement for professional staff, which has been set at 5.5 hours since 2001.
“We have always recognised the importance of giving our lawyers the opportunity to undertake challenging work for quality clients, but not at the expense of their work-life balance and other priorities in their lives.”
ALB’s annual Employer of Choice survey canvasses lawyers from across Australia and other regions in Asia-Pacific. Responses are aggregated and the winning firms are awarded the Employer of Choice title.
This is the second time the Brisbane-based firm has won an ALB Employer of Choice Award. The firm was also voted as a Top 10 Employer of Choice during 2008, one of only two non-national firms listed.
