The Office of Fair Trading recently released draft amendments to the Manufactured Homes (Residential Parks) Act 2003 (Qld). If passed, these changes will have a significant impact on the operation of manufactured home parks throughout Queensland.
Held in conjunction with the Caravan Parks Association of Queensland and the Manufactured Home Park Operators Council of Queensland, this informative and important seminar was presented by CPAQ chief executive officer Ron Chapman and HopgoodGanim Lawyers senior associate Anthony Pitt, a specialist in manufactured homes legislation. The seminar outlined the changes that have been proposed and how they could impact on owners and operators of manufactured home parks, and on caravan parks with permanent residents, especially those owning manufactured homes, squareline caravans and modified caravan structures.
Participants learned about the issues they need to be aware of before and after any amendments are put in place, and the impact the amendments could have from a town planning perspective.
James Ireland, a partner in HopgoodGanim’s Planning and Development practice, was on hand to answer questions on the planning aspects of the amendments and discuss the implications of the amendments when re-developing parks.
